Use comments to keep discussions close to the content
Comments let members respond directly to a post instead of starting a separate discussion elsewhere. They are useful for questions, reactions, clarifications, and lightweight community conversation.
Choose the right policy
A public community can allow broader participation, while a private community should usually require sign-in before commenting. For higher-signal communities, keep posting and commenting limited to registered members.
- Open discussion: best when growth and participation matter most.
- Member-only discussion: best when trust, identity, or moderation matters more.
- No comments: best for announcement-style sites where posts should not become threads.
Moderation guidance
Review comments regularly in the admin panel. Remove spam, low-effort replies, and anything that does not match the community standard you want members to follow.
