Content sources

Use RSS feeds and keyword searches to keep your community active without manually creating every post.

When to use content sources

New communities often need a small base of useful posts before members start contributing. Content sources let HelloBox import relevant content on a schedule, so your site has fresh material while the community is still growing.

Content sources are managed from the Content Sources section of the admin panel.

Add an RSS feed

RSS feeds are useful when you already know a trusted publication, blog, podcast, or media source that regularly publishes content your members care about.

  1. Open Content Sources in the admin panel.
  2. Click New Content Source.
  3. Select RSS feed and enter the feed URL.
  4. Optionally assign a category so imported posts are organized automatically.
  5. Save the source.
RSS in plain English
RSS is a standard feed format that lets websites publish a structured list of recent items. Each item usually includes a title, link, date, and summary. HelloBox reads that feed and creates draft or imported content from it.

Add a keyword source

Keyword sources search supported media platforms for new content that matches a topic. Use them when you want to monitor a theme rather than import from one specific feed.

  1. Create a new content source.
  2. Select Keyword Search.
  3. Enter the keyword or phrase to monitor.
  4. Choose the platforms HelloBox should search.
  5. Review imported posts from the Contents page.

Review imported content

Imported posts should still match the quality bar of your community. Review new items regularly, remove anything off-topic, and adjust the source if it brings in too much noise.
